Global Doors move into new markets with the help of a PAPI grant
Wakefield-based Global Doors is a market-leading, specialist manufacturer of made-to-order sliding wardrobe doors. A skilled workforce supplies independent retailers, national housebuilders, interior designers, and the leisure industry with their high-quality, premium products. Their purpose-designed premises houses specialist machinery which allows them to deliver high volume contracts as well as individual, bespoke product requests. With PAPI support, the company purchased a new state-of-the-art edgebanding machine to support their product innovation and enable them to access new markets.
Innovation
Global Doors identified a gap in the market for a top-end range of door frontals for their frameless, bifold and carcass hanging doors. In order to access the top-end of the market, the company identified the need for new machinery. To access these new markets, Global Doors wanted to achieve a high quality finish, which required a particular type of very low “glue line” edging, only achieved by using a machine with advanced manufacturing edge technology.

New products
This new machine allowed Global Doors to create the high-quality product finish and durability the company required, which was instrumental in the launch of their new products. The three new product ranges provided the company access to higher margin marketplaces, which has increased turnover and profit margins. The project has also created one new full time job.
